Premium Dark Recollections Pre-Order

So here it is, the official Pre-Order page of the Premium version of Dark Recollections, and the complete 8 book set of Adrian’s Undead Diary.

As I said before, the books are slightly updated in the interior (story material unchanged) but the cover finish has been changed from gloss to matte, and left blank white. These premium copies will each ship out with a custom, one of a kind zombie drawn on the cover by designer and artist Alan MacRaffen. They will also be signed by the both of us, which is pretty damn neat.

The pre-order price for these is $25 for book one, and SETS ARE SOLD OUT. The cost of US shipping is included in the prices above. I’ve had several people ask for shipping outside the US, and if you’re willing to cover it, reach out to me prior to ordering.

Dark Recollections copies will ship out sometime in March. (I’ll advise via social media and email to buyers when they arrive from the printer, and we see how fast Alan can draw all those custom zombies) but complete sets of 1-8 will wait until all 8 books are proofed, shipped, and illustrated.

To keep these limited and awesomesauce, I’ve set the # of unique copies of Dark Recollections to 33, and the # of complete sets to just 20. SETS ARE SOLD OUT. That means there will be a grand total of 53 copies of book 1 made. I’m not setting a limit for the # people can buy, but please don’t buy too many. Sharing is caring.

Sets will be numbered, and some of the numbers have already been requested, so from this point out… no more requests.

As said, these are first-come, first served, and if all are sold in the pre-order phase, that’s it, kids.

As always, you’re all amazing people, and I don’t care what your local police say about you.

Want a neat collectible? We’re gonna have a neat collectible.

Later this month I’m going to be offering a very exclusive shot at a special edition of Dark Recollections, Adrian’s Undead Diary #1. I think I’m limiting this to just 33 copies, depending on demand.

The interior formatting is updated a little bit (essentially unchanged) but the cover is switching from its previous gloss finish to a special matte finish.

Also, as you can tell from the picture, the cover image (current credit to Ian llanas on that) is removed, leaving a blank space there.

Because Alan MacRaffen (original cover artist, and layout and formatter) is going to custom draw zombies on each special edition I’m selling.

So you will get the special blank cover version with a unique illustration on it. Unique means it’ll be a one of a kind.

I haven’t set a special price yet, but I’m thinking with the illustration, shipped to you (US only please, because the postal fees are *insane*) they’ll be $25 each.

Would anyone want the whole set of 8 books as a set? I’m considering setting aside a small amount to sell as exclusive sets with themed drawings on them, if this works.) I think I could do the whole set for just $160, and they’re normally $100.

Why am I doing this?

A) Because it’s fun and cool as hell to get a special edition of something.

B) It’s a fun experiment for bringing special editions to upcoming conventions for fans and new readers alike and;

C) With the 2nd baby coming, my writing time will be cut into dramatically, and this is a good way for me to offer a new product to offset my paternity leave (unpaid, as I work for myself) and to help us float through until summer. I’m hoping to use this cash to cover us for babysitting so I can work more.

So if you’re interested, please chime in and I’ll start setting up a checkout on my website for it. If you want more than one, please let me know so I can gauge demand.

These will be first come, first served.

If you have questions, comments or complaints, fire away.

Oh, and I finish editing THE PHONE later today. I hope.

To novella, or not to novella?

That is the question.

So I ran this huge sale awhile back where I dropped the price on the anthologies in the Tales of AUD series, while simultaneously GIVING AWAY all three of the novellas in that series.

I’m a generous soul, to give away thousands of dollars of free books like that, eh?

I’m sure you’re wondering why I did that.

I’m also wondering why I did that.

Eureka! It was to gauge public response!

Of all the things I’ve written, the novellas are unpredictable. They sell at a steady pace, but they’re streaky, and I don’t make much money on them. They’re a great way for me to continue to tell stories in the AUD universe, have some new releases as I wait for major deals with publishers, and they’re a terrific outlet for creativity. Novel length releases I’m contractually bound to let my agent try and sell for a period (which is good, as he has gotten me some very helpful deals), but novellas I can just indie release to y’all immediately.

Here’s my dilemma: they cost almost as much to publish as a novel (still needs artwork and formatting, and narration too) and I charge less than half for them. So they’re a dangerous potential money pit if they don’t sell, and I got a kid, a wife, and another kid on the way, so I need to avoid money pits like the black frigging plague.

So here we are, awkwardly staring at each other, wondering where this is going.

Now that several hundred of each novella has gone out to you, what did you think of them? Are they good? Are you willing to buy more if I write more? Are you willing to review them on Amazon or Goodreads?

If I write more, what subjects do you want to see covered? What will you part with your precious $1.99 to read in novella format?

Chime in please, and help me make a good decision about what I should write. To novella, or not to novella? Please be frank in your answers.

The #2’s on Tuesday Sale!

It’s here.

Actually not yet, but this coming Tuesday, October 3rd of the grand year 2017, I’m running a Kindle MEGA SALE!

Mega might be an exaggeration, but technically, it’s the most amount of free titles I’ve ever had at once. After running a poll over on Facebook, I just couldn’t decide on what to put on sale, so I took several of the recommendations and made them all on sale.

It’s the second books in my running series. Alone No More, Ambryn & the Cheaters of Death, The Motive for Massacre, and London Burns.

They’re all free starting Tuesday, and will remain free until Friday the 6th. To give you links to all the titles in one spot, here they are below:

David Price’s Lightbringers

Good friend and local horror/fantasy author David Price wrote a sweet book, and I was privileged to get my hands on an ARC copy of it for an editorial review.

I really liked it. Dave’s novel is a mixture of Tolkein, Gaiman, and Lovecraft, and I mean that when I say it. It’s a unique post-apocalyptic novel and I would highly recommend it if you want a demolished world filled with magic and monsters.

Here’s a link, and please give it a shot.

Granite State Comic Con next weekend with Mark Tufo? YES!

Next weekend is Granite State Comic Con. That means… the wondrous Mark Tufo (Zombie Fallout, Lycan Fallout, Indian Hill and on good sources I can report his new book Assageddon) and I will be holding court, side by each, causing mayhem and discontent.

He and I are trying to set up a meet and greet at the hotel bar Saturday evening after the show’s end. We’ll share more as we get things closer to finalization.

We’ve entered into a bit of challenge with fellow authors Remy Flagg and Scott Goudsward. They’re in section J, we’re in section B. Reference the sweet map I made.

Both of our booths will have tickets. Get a ticket from them, bring it to us. Get a ticket from us, bring it to them. Whichever booth winds up with the most tickets…. wins.

We don’t have like, prizes for ourselves or anything, it’s mostly just so we can talk trash.

We do have prizes for you. On Sunday, we’re pulling one ticket from the jars, and the winner gets a free signed book from all four of us.

Holy. Guacamole.

Check out the convention’s website right here:

Would love to see you folks there.

A free taste of Colony Lost narrated by Kevin Stillwell

So as many of you have heard, my first military science fiction novel released this year. Very exciting stuff to embark on a literary journey in a new genre. I love the book I wrote; it has my sense of humor, the camaraderie I like, a little bit of horror, and a whole lot of imagination. It’s very much me.

Audible Studios hired actor Kevin Stillwell to narrate the title, and I think he did a stellar job. His pacing and cadence and pronunciations are all wonderful, and I’m happy with his work.

Audible has been very kind to me and given us a free chapter from the book. Here’s Chapter 15. It’s a pivotal moment in the story where a threat imagined becomes a threat in reality.

Get it here on Amazon/Audible.

Resurrections has arrived on Audible!

Narrated by James Anderson Foster, this collection of my own short stories spans almost 20 years of work.

From game developer days to features set in Adrian’s Undead Diary, Elmoryn and The Reemergence the stories of Resurrections cover the gamut of all things I like to write. There’s filler in the AUD world like never before, fleshing out characters that many readers have been asking about for years, as well as speculative stories I might later turn into novels.

Please check the book out on Audible, Amazon or iTunes, and leave a review to let me know what you think.

I’m also giving away a signed proof copy (one of three in existence) to a random Amazon reviewer. Once Colony Lost gets to 25 reviews on I’ll select one of the reviewers at random, and they’ll win the signed proof. So if this interests you…. read, review, and profit.

Enjoy Selva.

More than the Marines did.
